The Next Gathering

20 - 24 Sep 2024

Join us for the fourth edition of our magical boutique celebration of life, creativity and expression in the heart of the Karoo desert.

The City's guiding principles

Radical Self Reliance

Upon entering The Lost City, all individuals are encouraged to discover, exercise and rely on their own inner resources. This includes leaving no trace. There is nobody to pick up after you in our ancient city, here we rely only on ourselves.

Community

There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about and that’s exactly what The Lost City is about. Reconnecting with those around you, right here, right now, present, rediscovering all the things you truly care about. Let's discover together.

Self Expression

The Lost City was built for self expression, almost nothing is frowned upon, unless you are infringing on someone’s personal space. Join us as the person you’ve always wanted to be, in whichever way you wish to present that version of you. Dress up, dress down, move it all around. Express your art, if you care but please do let down your hair!

About

The Lost City

The Lost City is a forgotten desert town expanding over 3700 hectares in the arid Karoo. The city is home to pristine wilderness, ancient waterfalls, calcified rock formations, a 1 million year old canyon and once again, humans!

There is no ruling body in this land but rather a collective motivation for all beings to be treated with respect, love and kindness. The members of this community are free from the shackles of modern day society. They are peaceful and live harmoniously with the nature around them.

The City exists beyond the bounds of the ‘default system’. It's a place which is completely governed by its own rules & regulations, that have been built on the founding principles of collaboration, community and coexistence.
